IN 2004, EDIE TRANSFERRED FROM THE SHERIFF'S DEPARTMENT TO THE TROUP COUNTY CORRECTIONAL INSTITUTE, WHERE HE WORKED ON THE DETAIL AS A CORRECTIONAL OFFICER. HE CONSTANTLY SEEKS KNOWLEDGE OF ALL ASPECTS OF PARKS AND RECREATION, AND IS NOW A CREW LEADER WHO IS MAINLY RESPONSIBLE FOR THE SOCCER COMPLEX, WHERE HE TAKES GREAT PRIDE IN HOW THE FACILITY LOOKS AND IS MAINTAINED. HE HAS BEEN MARRIED TO HIS WIFE FOR 20 YEARS AND TOGETHER THEY HAVE A DAUGHTER, LAYLA, WHO ALSO ATTENDS LAGRANGE HIGH SCHOOL. SO FOR OUR MENTAL HEALTH COURT, WE WERE GIVEN $12,480 FOR AWARDED TO INCREASE OUR HOME CHECKS, $7,800 TO OFFSET THE COST OF THE SHERIFF DEPARTMENT FOR OUR WEEKEND AND HOLIDAY SCREENINGS. BECAUSE THE SHERIFF'S DEPUTIES DO COME FOR THE DOOR, AND SOMETIMES THEY HELP WITH SCREENING $2,400 FOR CONFIRMATIONS, WHICH WE USE.THERE HAS BEEN A INCREASE IN TRANS FOR SYNTHETIC DRUGS, SO WE USE THAT TO JUST DO LOOK FOR A SPECIFIC DRUG LIKE K2 OR SOMETHING LIKE THAT. THE REQUEST FOR WE WERE AWARDED $23,100, AND THAT'S JUST SO THAT THEY CAN USE IT FOR COMPREHENSIVE TESTING, ALLOWS A 60 PLUS PANEL SO THEY CAN SCREEN FOR 60 PLUS DIFFERENT LEGAL AND ILLEGAL DRUGS, PRESCRIPTION DRUGS. SOME OF THEIR PARTICIPANTS ARE ON MEDICATION AS WELL, SO THEY USE THAT JUST TO ENSURE THAT THEY'RE TAKING THE MEDICATION, THAT THEY'RE NOT USING ANYTHING ELSE THAT THEY'RE NOT SUPPOSED TO. THE CONFIRMATION TESTING WAS $720, AND THAT'S JUST TO ASSIST PEOPLE WHO MIGHT GET MEDICATION POSITIVE OR POSITIVE. AND THEY WANT CONFIRMATION, BUT THEY CAN'T AFFORD TO PAY FOR IT.

AND THE LENGTHY PROCESS OF HAVING IT APPROVED THROUGH FEMA ALL THE WAY BACK DOWN THROUGH JIMA AND THE PASS THROUGH PROCESS, WE RECEIVED THAT LETTER BACK LAST MONTH THAT THAT FEMA HAD FINALLY APPROVED OUR PLAN FROM A PROJECT THAT WE'D BEEN WORKING ON FOR PROBABLY CLOSE TO 18 MONTHS. SO WE'VE I BELIEVE THE LETTER IS INCLUDED IN THERE, WHERE WE RECEIVED BACK FROM FEMA DOWN TO JIMA.AND WE'RE ASKING THE COMMISSION TO RATIFY AND APPROVE THE ADOPTION OF THIS PLAN. MY REQUEST AT THAT POINT IN THE LAST MONTH WAS THE THE KNOWLEDGE THAT MORE THAN LIKELY OVER THE LAST 4 TO 5 YEARS, WE'RE PROBABLY GOING TO HAVE ADDITIONAL TREES THAT WERE A RISK TO THE SURFACE, THE IMAGINARY SURFACE, OR THE RISK TO SAFETY OF NAVIGATION. AS THE CONTRACTOR BEGAN CUTTING AND STARTING CLEARING, MYSELF AND THE ENGINEER, ALEX MOONEY WITH ASH WERE ABLE TO IDENTIFY, THERE ARE INDEED MORE TREES. WE'VE CORROBORATED THAT WITH DRONE FLIGHTS TO SEEK OUT ALTITUDES OF SPECIFIC TREES, AND SO MY REQUEST THIS EVENING WILL BE TO APPROVE A CHANGE ORDER TO TOP OUT AT $285,000. SO THAT WAS ALL CAPTURED IN THE CONTRACT TO MAKE SURE THAT THE COUNTY AIRPORT WERE ALL COVERED.AND SO BUT THAT SAID, THE VOLUME OF TREES, WHEN YOU GOT INTO SOME OF THOSE PROPERTIES, IT WAS A JUNGLE. IN FACT, YOU REALLY HAD TO CUT AWAY A LOT IN ORDER TO GET IT. SOME OF THE BASES TO UNDERSTAND, IS IT JUST ONE TREE WITH AN ENORMOUS CANOPY, OR IS IT A GROWTH OF A SMALL, A SMALL FOOTPRINT OF VARIOUS TREES? AND THAT'S WHAT WE FOUND. BUT THIS WILL BRING US IN COMPLIANCE FOR YEARS TO COME. YES, SIR.
