GOOD MORNING. AND CITIZENS OF TROUP COUNTY, THE RICHARD ENGLISH JUNIOR AWARD OF EXCELLENCE IS GIVEN MONTHLY TO A DESERVING EMPLOYEE WHO HAS DEMONSTRATED EXCELLENT PERFORMANCE, PRODUCTIVITY, LOYALTY, PROFESSIONAL PRIDE, AND OTHER NOTEWORTHY ACCOMPLISHMENTS.THIS AWARD RECOGNIZES THAT ALL COUNTY EMPLOYEES LINKED TOGETHER TO FORM A CHAIN THAT PROVIDES THE CITIZENS OF THE COUNTY WITH EXCELLENT SERVICE. NO ONE BETTER EXEMPLIFIES THAT SPIRIT OF EXCELLENCE AND DEDICATION THAN MR. I'VE, I AND THE ACTIVE LIFE IS SEEKING AN INTERN THROUGH THE GCP GRANT OPPORTUNITY THAT WE HAVE THAT WILL ASSIST WITH STRATEGIC PLANNING AND PROGRAM DEVELOPMENT AS OUR ACTIVE LIFE CENTERS PROJECT PREPARE FOR THE RETIREMENT OF GENERATION X, THE NEXT MAJOR WAVE OF OLDER ADULTS ENTERING THIS STAGE OF LIFE. THIS PROJECT WILL COMBINE RESEARCH, FOCUS GROUPS AND PLANNING TO HELP THE ACTIVE LIFE CREATE A FORWARD THINKING PROGRAMS, ACTIVITIES AND OUTREACH STRATEGIES THAT MEET THE UNIQUE EXPECTATIONS AND NEEDS OF THIS GENERATION. SO WE'RE TRYING TO STAY AHEAD. BACK WHEN, BEFORE BABY BOOMERS RETIRED, WE DID A LOT OF STRATEGIC PLANNING AND SEEING HOW WE TRANSITION FROM THE SILENT GENERATION IN WORLD WAR TWO GENERATION TO PREPARE FOR THE THE BABY BOOMERS, WHICH I'M A PART OF. AND SO NOW WE WANT TO GET AHEAD OF THE GAME AND PREPARE FOR GENERATION X AND FIND OUT AND UNDERSTAND THEIR UNIQUE INTERESTS AND NEEDS SO THAT WE'RE READY TO SERVE THAT GROUP WHEN THEY RETIRE. SO THIS IS AN INTERN FOR LIKE THE SUMMER, THE SUMMERTIME, SUMMERTIME. IT'S 200 HOURS OF INTERNSHIP. WE'VE BEEN ABLE TO HAVE TWO PREVIOUS INTERNS OVER THE PAST YEARS, AND IT'S BEEN A GREAT HELP TO OURS. AND I THINK WITH THIS INTERNSHIP, WE HAVE MUCH MORE STRUCTURED WITH GOALS ALONG THE WAY THAT I THINK WILL HELP TO MAKE THIS SUCCESSFUL.WE'RE LOOKING FOR STUDENTS THAT ARE INTERESTED IN GERONTOLOGY, SOCIAL WORK, NONPROFIT MANAGEMENT, RECREATION OR COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT. SO WE'VE GOT A WIDE SPAN OF DIFFERENT TYPES OF MAJORS THAT THESE STUDENTS THAT ATTEND A GEORGIA COLLEGE OR UNIVERSITY COULD HELP ME. SO THIS IS THE FIRST TIME USING THIS GRANT. I KNOW WE'VE USED THIS GRANT SEVERAL TIMES BEFORE, BUT THIS IS THE FIRST TIME WE'VE HAD THIS FOCUS OF PREPARING FOR GEN X. THIS IS A GRANT THAT THE COUNTY HAS RECEIVED MULTIPLE YEARS FOR FOR VARIOUS DEPARTMENTS. PROBATES USED THEM, SOLICITOR'S OFFICE USED THEM, DEVELOPMENT, DEVELOPMENT, COURT SERVICES.
IT'S A GREAT PROGRAM THROUGH HCG THAT THAT REALLY AGAIN, IT'S OBVIOUSLY GREAT BECAUSE A LOT OF TIMES WE'LL HAVE COLLEGE STUDENTS THAT ARE RETURNING HOME FOR THE SUMMER AND LOOKING FOR INTERNSHIPS IN LOCAL GOVERNMENTS, AND THIS IS AN OPPORTUNITY TO UTILIZE IT. ITEM SIX IS THE JOINT FUNDING AGREEMENT FOR THE TURF AT CALLAWAY STADIUM.VALERIE ACTUALLY REVIEWED THE RECORDS AFTER WE GOT THE MINUTES AFTER WE GOT THE SIGNED COPY OF THAT AGREEMENT BACK FROM THE SCHOOL BOARD AND LAGRANGE COLLEGE, AND DID NOT SEE IN THE MINUTES WHERE THE BOARD HAD EXPRESSLY APPROVED THAT, ALTHOUGH IT WAS DISCUSSED IN IN CONTEXT OF THE APPROVAL OF THE PROJECT, BUT THE ACTUAL AGREEMENT DIDN'T COME BACK UNTIL LATER. THEY HAVE JOINED US TO FUND THE PROJECT FOR OUR NEW AERIAL PHOTOGRAPHY THAT WILL BE FLYING IN FEBRUARY OF 26, IN FEBRUARY OF 29. SO IT'S A JOINT PROJECT BETWEEN THE COUNTY AND THE CITY'S FIRST ONE THAT WE'VE EVER HAD THEM PARTICIPATE WITH US. THEY HAVE ALL SIGNED THE AGREEMENT. THEY'VE EXECUTED IT THROUGH[00:15:04]
THEIR COUNCILS. YOU HAVE A COPY OF THAT IN FRONT OF YOU, THE AGREEMENT, AND WE JUST NEED APPROVAL IN THE COUNTY TO SIGN ON OUR SIDE SO WE CAN GET THE EVERYTHING PROCESSED. THEN WHAT WAS THE DATES? FEBRUARY OF 26 IS WHEN THEY WILL DO THE FLIGHT. THEY WILL BE IN TOWN. THEY WILL USE OUR AIRPORT, OUR FUEL. THEY'LL BE BUYING FUEL FROM US WHILE THEY'RE IN TOWN. THEY'LL BRING IN ANYWHERE FROM 4 TO 6 AIRPLANES TO GET THE FLIGHT DONE. WHEN WAS THE LAST TIME THIS WAS DONE? 23. SO JUST A FEW YEARS AGO. YEAH. WE'VE ADDED ALMOST 1200 NEW HOMES AND THE COMMERCIAL GROWTH SINCE THEN. SO IT'S VERY IMPORTANT THAT WE KEEP UP WITH OUR AERIAL PHOTOGRAPHY ABUSE. JAMES, DO YOU WANT TO CHIME IN NOW AS WELL? THE LIDAR TOPOGRAPHY PIECE OF THIS IS NOT INCLUDED IN THE FUNDING AGREEMENT. IT IS A SPLOST EXPENDITURE AND AND IT'S COUNTY WIDE AND IT HAS NOT BEEN FLOWN SINCE 2009. SO THIS IS ABOUT A 17 YEAR UPDATE FOR THE TOPOGRAPHY. TALK ABOUT SORT OF WHAT WHAT THE BENEFITS OF THAT ARE FOR YOU AND, AND OBVIOUSLY FOR OTHER ENGINEERING FIRMS AND BUILDERS AND HOMEOWNERS. SURE. IT'S IT'S THE ONLY SOURCE OF OF DETAILED TOPOGRAPHY, COUNTY WIDE, THAT IS AVAILABLE. AND THE THE 2009 FLIGHT WAS THE FIRST TIME THAT WE EVER HAD THAT LEVEL OF DETAIL FOR TOPOGRAPHY, AND IT'S USED FOR EVERYTHING INFRASTRUCTURE AND GRADING RELATED ALL OVER THE COUNTY.ANY PROJECT THAT WE HAVE THAT'S DRAINAGE, WE USE THE TOPO. ANY PROJECT WE HAVE THAT'S GRADING, WE USE THE TOPO EVEN TO ASSESS PROPERTIES FOR VIABILITY OF FUTURE INFRASTRUCTURE. WE USE IT. AND IT'S NOT JUST THE COUNTY STAFF BY ANY MEANS. THERE ARE PROFESSIONALS ALL OVER THE AREA THAT COUNT ON THAT TOPOGRAPHY AS WELL. IT'S BEEN AVAILABLE FOR PURCHASE THROUGH THE THROUGH THE COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT OFFICE OVER THE YEARS. AND WE'VE WE'VE RECOVERED A LOT OF THE EXPENSES FOR THAT FROM THOSE REVENUES FROM SELLING THAT DATA. AND I WOULD SUSPECT THAT SINCE OH NINE, THE TECHNOLOGY HAS CHANGED BETTER. IT IS IT'S IT'S GOING TO BE IT'S GOING TO BE A A MUCH HIGHER LEVEL OF DETAIL. THIS WAS AT THAT TIME MUCH HIGHER LEVEL OF DETAIL. THAT THAT PRODUCT WAS, WAS NOT EVEN SPECIFIED AS A LIDAR PRODUCT.
IT WAS MORE OF A A STEREOSCOPE TYPE OF TOPOGRAPHY. THIS TOPOGRAPHY WOULD BE NOT JUST LIDAR, BUT IT WOULD BE THE HIGHEST LEVEL OF LIDAR, WHICH IS A IS A LASER RANGE DETECTION FROM THE CAMERA THAT TAKES THE AERIAL PHOTOGRAPHY. IT WILL ALSO SHOOT A LASER IN AN ARRAY AS IT FLIES AND COLLECT. VERY ACCURATE ELEVATION INFORMATION AS IT FLIES. ALL RIGHT. ANY OTHER QUESTIONS? DANNY SAID THERE WAS WHAT? THEY PAID FOR THE ADDITIONAL FLIGHTS. SO THEY'RE ACTUALLY GOING TO CAP. THEY'LL HAVE ONE MAP FOR THE FIRST TIME EVER FOR THEIR ENTIRE CITY LIMITS.
